The Cincinnati Royals topped the Tampa Bay Captains, 3-2, in National Conference action at Ahoy Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cincinnati pitcher Andy Dooley. Gordie Clifford recorded the save, his 23rd. The Royals have an impressive 42-25 record.

Cincinnati used a timely hit from Philip Gardner to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Royals ahead, 3-2. It might've been his only hit, but it did the trick.

Gardner called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
