Eagles Get Hard-Earned Win
|
Fans of the Indianapolis Eagles who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Indianapolis win over the visiting Tampa Bay Captains, 3-2, in 11 innings. Jerry Bowman started for the home team against Ray Rorie. Ray Rorie earned accolades for his performance.
The decisive blow was delivered by Mike Dallis in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a run-scoring double off 30-year old left-handed pitcher Jesse Vecchio to win the game for Indianapolis. The home crowd went nuts.
"We had a chance to win," said Tampa Bay manager Erik Thames, "but we didn't get it done."
