The Indianapolis Eagles put one in the win column with an opening day 3-0 triumph over the Tampa Bay Captains. The crowd at Eagles Stadium watched Paul Mitchell put on a fine performance. The save was credited to Vince Rice, his 1st.

Mitchell earned the win, going 8 strong innings for Indianapolis. The native of Marlow Heights, Maryland, allowed just 2 hits, while striking out 7. Tampa Bay hitters did next to nothing against the left-hander.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Mitchell told the Indianapolis Gazette.
