Ariëns Slugs 2 Home Runs, Gladiators Beat Nightmare, 6-4
A good performance from third baseman Ton Ariëns helped the Phoenix Gladiators defeat the New York Nightmare, 6-4. Ariëns slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Gladiators. Manny Brant got credit for the save for Phoenix. It was his 9th of the year. The Gladiators improved their record to 24-43 by beating New York.

Phoenix took a 5-2 lead on Ariëns's 15th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Joe Schroeder in the top of the sixth, propelled Phoenix to the win.

"I know we have our doubters," said New York manager Joey Bishop. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
