The Austin Desperados topped the Fountain Hills 23ers, 8-3, in American Conference action at Dell Diamond. The game was highlighted by the performance of Austin pitcher Jon Cordova. Cordova got the win, improving to 5-3. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The winning streak has now reached 7 games for the Desperados.

Jake Hamill had a big 3-run home run for the Desperados in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Austin trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from Taylor Motyl, who finished 5th in the NC in wins with 17 in 2024, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Desperados on top, 5-3.

"Hitting is contagious. And when you have a lineup that's going to throw out competitive at-bats one through nine, it makes you want to join in," said Hamill.
