The Detroit Giants rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Rodney Caporn to a win, beating the Halifax Heathens, 6-2, at Ballpark of Detroit. Caporn picked up the win for Detroit, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-9. Devin Wickliffe, credited with the save, is now 20 for 24 in save opportunities.

Bob Gilmore, who is tied for 2nd in the AC in RBI with 43, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two out and the bases loaded, the Detroit designated hitter hit a 2-run single. That put the Giants in front, 4-2.

"I thought we played a nice game," Caporn told the Detroit Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
