The home squad pulled out a thrilling walk-off win.
The Hollywood Stars besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Carolina shortstop Rich Simmer by beating the Reapers, 7-6, at Hollywood Grounds. Simmer was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The third-place Stars are 32-34.
Dan Wheeler was the walk-off hero for Hollywood. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Stars pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It was bedlam at the end," Wheeler said.
