Gladiators Squeeze By New York, 3-2
|
The Phoenix Gladiators had to overcome a good performance from New York pitcher Dustin Lewis to claim a 3-2 win at Nightmare Stadium. Lewis went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Manny Brant collected save number 8. Phoenix, with the win, is 23-43.
Ton Ariëns, who finished 4th in the AC in batting average with .301 in 2022, had a direct impact on the outcome. Ariëns contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the tenth inning to put Phoenix up, 3-2.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Gladiators manager Brett Bartlett. "This one was nice to get."
