Captains Best Royals in Pitching Duel
|
The Tampa Bay Captains picked up a win at Ahoy Park, downing the Cincinnati Royals, 2-1. On the mound for Tampa Bay was right-hander Ray Rorie, who played a pivotal role in the win. Jesse Vecchio closed out the game, earning his 15th save. The win has Tampa Bay at 24-42.
Rocky Hawke had a big 2-run home run for the Captains in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Tampa Bay trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Miguel Leon, who is tied for 5th in the NC with a 10.7 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Captains on top, 2-1.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Hawke said.
