Ortiz Helps Sea Dogs Win, 6-3, with Pair of Homers
|
The Charleston Sea Dogs handed the Carolina Reapers a loss at Ballpark of Charleston. The final score was 6-3. Juan Ortiz was one of the major contributors for Charleston. In addition to his 1 single and 2 home runs, he scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Omar Cons got the win, improving to 7-2. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The win for the Sea Dogs lifted their record to 35-30.
With Charleston leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Ortiz hit a sinker from Steve Cates for a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Sea Dogs ahead, 4-1.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Sea Dogs manager Sang-ton Che.
