The Fountain Hills 23ers thumped the Boston Whistlers, 10-1, at Fountain Park. Chris Dietel was a big reason his team got the win. Dietel went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Boston drops to 0-7.

The 23ers got a big hit from designated hitter Adam Lietz. Facing Boston pitcher Jay Helm in the bottom of the fifth, Lietz pounded a bases-clearing double to left-center. His 2nd double of the season put the 23ers ahead, 9-0.

Boston manager Mike Plocher called the blowout loss "not what we had in mind."
