The Toronto Trash Pandas beat the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 4-3, at Leatherback Park. The Trash Pandas got a fine performance from right fielder Jaylen Taylor, who was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 3 times. Jim Murphy, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-0. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Tom Mott, who finished 5th in the NC in saves with 30 last year, earned the save for Toronto.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, John Gadsden was at the plate when Toronto scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Trash Pandas to go in front, 4-3.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Toronto manager Mike Cervantes.

With their winning streak at 4, the Trash Pandas have raced to a strong start this season.
