Capitols Pull Out Late-Game Win, 2-1
|
London wasted a solid 7-inning effort from starting pitcher Manuel Londono, losing to Augusta, 2-1, at Ballpark of Oklahoma City. Steve Ray nailed down the save. The first-place Capitols now have a win-loss record of 51-43.
Mike Johnson's at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth was critical. The Augusta shortstop drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put his team on top, 2-1. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Augusta manager Joel Braddock.
