Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Boll Weevils
|
Behind a fine performance from Lance Ricke, the Miami Boll Weevils knocked off the Hialeah Firecats in 12 innings, 6-5. Ricke went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Boll Weevils. The win went to Bob Garbee in relief. His record improves to 5-3. Tyler Carlson took the loss. The Firecats, at 28-62, have lost 5 straight games.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 12th for Miami. That's when Mike Ross, who is tied for 5th in the W-AA in doubles with 19, hit a solo home run off Tyler Carlson to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Ross.
