Vail used a superb performance from starting pitcher Mike Redmond to down the Vermont Milkmen, 9-1. Picking up the save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Brett Emma. Vail now sits at 54-38, while Vermont falls to 34-58.

The Tigercats got a lift from third baseman Troy Hermann, who in the bottom of the third hit a run-scoring double. His 19th double of the season put the Tigercats on top, 2-0.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Tigercats manager Mike Alexander, "I like our chances."
