Trash Pandas Handle Indianapolis, Snag 4-2 Win
|
Thanks in large part to designated hitter Sam Salas, the Toronto Trash Pandas beat the Indianapolis Eagles, 4-2. Salas went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Winston Caballero picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-4 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 1 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 2 runs. Travis Williams closed it out for his 5th save.
Toronto used a well-timed hit by Jon Kenyon to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Trash Pandas ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Toronto skipper Walt DeRosier.
The Trash Pandas now have a record of 39-25 with the win over Indianapolis.
