The Miami Boll Weevils racked up a win at Ballpark of Miami, bumping off the Vail Tigercats, 4-1. Arturo Ramirez, who started for Miami, pitched effectively for his team. Ramirez, the winner, moves to 2-5. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Zack Cunningham earned the save, his 10th, for the Boll Weevils.
Miami center fielder David Reed helped the Boll Weevils go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Reed hit a run-scoring single off Vail pitcher Mike Brown.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Reed told the Miami Observer.
The current losing streak for Vail has reached 5 games.
