Royals Rally to Nose Past London
|
The inspired effort of London third baseman Allen Baker was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-6, to the Cornwall Royals. Baker was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Kelly Powell notched his 15th save of the season. This win makes it 5 in a row for Cornwall.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Dionigi Castellani came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing London pitcher Jesse Keim, he hit a 0-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cornwall on top, 6-5.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Castellani told the Cornwall Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
