The Vermont Milkmen could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Alberto Renteria into a win. Instead, the Miami Boll Weevils prevailed, 2-1. Renteria threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Dave Vondrasek notched his 10th save in 13 chances. The Boll Weevils improved to 42-44.

Leo Silva had a direct impact on the outcome. Silva contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Miami up, 2-1.

"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Vermont manager Mike Barriga.
