Bombardiers Deal Boll Weevils 2-1 Loss
|
Cincinnati and Miami played a hard-fought contest.
The Bombardiers grabbed a win, 2-1, at Ballpark of Miami, overcoming a fine effort from Miami pitcher Jason Alvers. Alvers went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win went to Greg Wright in relief, making him now 1-0. Jason Alvers took the loss for Miami.
The Bombardiers got a big at-bat from catcher Mark Monterosso. For the game, Monterosso was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Cincinnati a 2-0 lead.
Monterosso called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
With the win, Cincinnati pushed its record to 48-38.
