Bombardiers Come Up Short at Miami, 6-5
|
Bruce Schmidt led Miami to a win over Cincinnati. The final score was 6-5. The Merrillville, Indiana native collected 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Xavier Tomlin earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. Miami is now 30-55, Cincinnati 47-38.
David Reed helped out the Miami cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 3 with a walk.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Reed told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
