Scorpions Get Hard-Earned Win
The Syracuse Scorpions picked up a win at Scorpion Stadium, taking down the Boston Whistlers, 2-1. Starting pitcher Matt Simpson was a big reason why. Syracuse reliever John Landgren picked up the win, upping his record to 5-5. Jeremy Carter was saddled with the loss. By defeating Boston, the second-place Scorpions improved to 32-32.

Syracuse got a knockout punch from Ryan Mallory. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"This house was rockin'," Mallory said.
