Sonoma Drops Another One, 5-3
|
The Augusta Capitols handed the Sonoma Scorpions a 5-3 defeat at Ballpark of North Richland Hills. Shortstop Derek Vance starred for Augusta. He was 1-2 with 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Max Hercules, the winning pitcher, is now 8-2. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 2. Jeff Cox was called on to finish, recording his 20th save.
With Augusta leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Vance hit a 2-run single off Sonoma hurler Steve Oswald. It was the 12th hit of the season for Vance and put his team ahead, 3-0.
"I really like what we did out there today," Vance said after the game.
The first-place Scorpions have lost 7 straight games.
