Tigercats Prevail, 4-2, Over Augusta
|
Vail first baseman Ricky Plascencia contributed significantly to his team's 4-2 win over the Augusta Capitols. Plascencia, who is tied for 7th in the W-AA in RBI with 41, went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Tigercats. Rich Mack got the win, improving to 6-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Justin Brownlee, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
Nick Raiff had a big run-scoring double for the Tigercats in the bottom of the second inning. With Vail leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Jeff Sharp, who is tied for 3rd in the W-AA with a 1.00 WHIP, and swatted a double to center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigercats ahead, 4-2.
Raiff attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
The Tigercats sit in 4th place in the Western AA Central Division with a record of 50-36.
