Gotch Excels in 6-5 St. Louis Win
|
St. Louis beat Cincinnati at Cavalry Ballpark, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Ross Gotch. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Vic Vance, the winner, improved to 4-7. He held Cincinnati to 3 runs on 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. The last-place Cavalry have won 4 straight games.
With St. Louis leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Gotch hit a 3-run home run off Cincinnati hurler Jose Perez. It was the 8th home run of the season for Gotch and put his team ahead, 4-0.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said St. Louis manager Leo Medina.
