The Sonoma Scorpions got a marvelous performance from pitcher Ricky Fernandez. The left-hander kept the Vermont offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-1 Sonoma victory at Ballpark of North Richland Hills. Sonoma reliever Justin Walker snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Chris Staubach shouldered the loss. Jason Henley notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.

The Scorpions got a big at-bat from left fielder Willie Galvez. For the game, Galvez was 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 5th double of the season gave Sonoma a 1-0 lead.

"Every loss stings," said Vermont manager Mike Barriga. "This one is no exception."

The Milkmen, now 35-51, have lost 6 straight.
