The Miami Boll Weevils picked up a win at Ballpark of Miami, defeating the Stockton Ragin Cajuns, 3-2. Starting pitcher Gerardo Matute was an essential part of his team's success. Miami now sits at 44-38, while Stockton falls to 39-43.

Had Jamie Tripp not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Tripp hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Boll Weevils.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Miami manager Bill Murtha said.
