The Vermont Milkmen clobbered the Hialeah Firecats, 16-1, at Emeralds Ballpark. Vermont third baseman Joe Pettit led the onslaught. He was 3-3 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Picking up the win was Paul Birchfield. He went 6.2 innings, allowing no runs on 7 hits. The left--hander struck out 7 and walked 2. Josh Carta had a big hit for Vermont in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Vermont leading 12-0, Carta hit a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Milkmen up, 16-0.

"We lit up the scoreboard," said Vermont manager Steve Reid.
