Capitols Edge Hamilton in Pitching Duel
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 24-year old catcher Brian Hubert, the Augusta Capitols defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs, 1-0. The win was credited to 23-year old right-handed pitcher Glenn Ward in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Cody Weisenberg took the loss. Bill Frazer closed out the game, earning his 9th save.
The Capitols got a big boost from third baseman Eric Hicks who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Bulldogs hurler Cody Weisenberg. It was his 26th RBI of the season and put Augusta on top, 1-0.
"I was a little disappointed," said Hamilton manager Armando Cisneros. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Augusta now sits at 39-40, while Hamilton falls to 49-30.
