Bombardiers Pick Up 7-3 Win
|
Cincinnati beat Vermont on the strength of starting pitcher Ryan Johnson's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-3. Johnson, the winner, moves to 4-5. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks. Nate Ray notched his 5th save of the season.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Phil Williams to capture the win. The first baseman socked a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bombardiers ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Williams.
Cincinnati currently is in third place in the Western AA Coastal Division at 44-35.
