Royals Fall Short, 2-1, at Cincinnati
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Cincinnati Bombardiers and the Cornwall Royals, Jose Paredes, who is tied for 3rd in the W-AA in complete games with 1, proved to be the difference. The Cincinnati right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Bombardiers win. The Royals, at 29-49, have lost 4 straight games.
Ruben Cabriales had a big solo home run for the Bombardiers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Manuel Esquivel and punished it. The result was his 20th home run of the season, which put the Bombardiers on top, 2-0.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Cabriales.
