Invaders Down Sea Turtles, 9-6
|
The Oakland Invaders downed the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 9-6, in 14 innings. Jared Smith led the way, going 5-for-6 for Oakland. The win was credited to 28-year old right-handed pitcher Colin Lambert in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Brian Hennick took the loss. Chris Brown was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Ruben Alamo was 1-4 with 2 walks and was hit by a pitch for Oakland. The slick-fielding second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the 14th. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring walk off Brian Hennick. It was his 17th walk of the season.
"We got the victory," said Alamo. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
The Sea Turtles, at 24-40, have lost 4 in a row.
