Starting pitcher Matt Simpson gave the Miami Boll Weevils a rock-solid effort. The Hettinger, North Dakota native helped his team defeat the Hialeah Firecats, 3-0, at Ballpark of Miami. Simpson, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Earning the save was Dave Vondrasek. He's now cashed in 2 of 3 save opportunities.
