Milkmen Win at Sonoma, 5-1
|
Vermont beat Sonoma on the strength of starting pitcher Tony Morales's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-1. Morales got the win, improving to 6-5. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Morgan Felty earned the save for Vermont, his 4th of the year.
Craig Kelley was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Vermont. With one out and the game tied in the top of the sixth inning, Kelley, who is tied for 10th in the W-AA in runs scored with 52, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Sonoma hurler Ruben Torres, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Milkmen a 2-1 lead.
"We did a lot of things right," said Kelley.
The 4th-place Milkmen now have a win-loss record of 33-45.
