Down to Defeat Goes Vail, 4-2
|
Cincinnati and Vail put this game in the books despite some rain.
Behind an impressive start by Jordan Odom, Cincinnati beat Vail, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Odom, now 5-8. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5.
Jon Owens had a big 3-run home run for the Bombardiers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a changeup from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jeremy Dawson and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Bombardiers on top, 4-0.
"Bottom line," said Vail skipper Mike Alexander, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The 4th-place Tigercats have dropped 4 straight games.
