Firecats Come Back Late to Top Scorpions, 3-1

Sonoma got a terrific performance from pitcher Terence Rodda, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hialeah Firecats. Hialeah won the Ballpark of North Richland Hills contest, 3-1. Rodda threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Hialeah pitcher Armando Sanchez got the win, upping his record to 2-6. Donovan March got the loss. Hialeah is now 34-43.
Hialeah used a timely hit from Jerry Milton to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Firecats ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
Milton called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
