Riley 4-for-4, Aztecs Move to 40-24
|
The Mexico City Aztecs polished off the San Francisco Fire by the score of 5-3. The largest share of the credit belonged to third baseman Mark Riley. Riley was 4 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Aztecs. Joe Brackett, the winner, goes to 3-4. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Jeff Cox notched his 18th save in 20 chances.
Early in the game, Riley had a 2-run home run for Mexico City. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Aztecs on top, 3-1.
In postgame comments to the Mexico City Bulletin, Riley said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The win lifted the Mexico City record to 40-24.
