Hialeah first baseman Matéo Thomas had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Thomas was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Vail beat the Firecats, 3-2, in 11 innings. The win makes Vail 45-30.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 11th for Vail. That's when 23-year old shortstop David Hidalgo hit a run-scoring double off Juan Rincon to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Hialeah manager John Costa said, following the tough loss.
