Miami Claims 3-1 Victory
|
Mike Arnerich, who leads the W-AA in complete games with 1, never let the Cavalry get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Boll Weevils to a win, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Arnerich, now 5-3. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. At 23-51, the Boll Weevils are currently last in the Western AA Coastal Division.
Ted Hiner cracked a home run off Justin Ashe in the bottom of the sixth. His solo blast put the Boll Weevils on top, 2-1. In all, Hiner had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"Mike was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.
