The London Tigers topped the Hialeah Firecats, 11-2, with first baseman Dustin Merkley playing a big role. Merkley went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Tigers in the win. The third-place Tigers bumped their record to 38-34.

London used a clutch at-bat from Richard Childs to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Tigers ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Merkley.
