The Miami Boll Weevils picked up a win at Ballpark of Miami, downing the Stockton Ragin Cajuns, 4-2. On the mound for Miami was right-hander Arturo Ramirez, who played a pivotal role in the win. Dave Vondrasek picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-2. Amari Allard was tagged with the loss. The third-place Boll Weevils have won 7 in a row.
Had Tyler Miles not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Miles hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Boll Weevils.
Miles called the win "a team effort."
