Steve Pikula, who is tied for 2nd in the W-AA in quality starts with 11, was locked in. The right-hander led the Vail Tigercats to a 2-1 win against the Hamilton Bulldogs at Vail Grounds. Reliever Rich Whiteside picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. T.J. Huckaby, who is tied for 2nd in the W-AA in holds with 7, took the loss. The triumph puts Vail at 39-33 for the season.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 12th, 26-year old center fielder Adam Cox had a chance to be the hero. Hamilton pitcher T.J. Huckaby had other ideas. But with one out, Cox grounded out, driving in 1 run. The Tigercats had themselves a dramatic win.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Cox.
