Boll Weevils Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Miami Boll Weevils eventually prevailed.
The Miami Boll Weevils defeated the Vail Tigercats, 3-2, at Ballpark of Miami. David Reed was a standout performer for Miami. His 3 hits included 1 single and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 1 he knocked in. Dave Vondrasek picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Josh Howard suffered the loss. John Reynolds picked up his 3rd save of the season.
Had Javier Tarango not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Tarango hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Boll Weevils.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Reed told the Miami Bulletin. "But we take nothing for granted."
Miami, with the win, climbs to 23-50.
