Tigercats Earn 2-1 Win Versus Boll Weevils
|
The Vail Tigercats downed the Miami Boll Weevils, 2-1, at Ballpark of Miami. Stellar pitching by Paul Mitchell had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2020 draft, handcuffed his opponent all game. Mitchell, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. With the win, Vail pushed its record to 39-33.
Mike Dallis came through with a big-time hit for Vail. The second baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Mitchell called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
