Reed, Boll Weevils March to 7-1 Victory
|
The Miami Boll Weevils grabbed a win, 7-1, over the St. Louis Cavalry at Cavalry Ballpark. Miami right fielder David Reed went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Alan Malinowski was the winner. He's now 5-5. The loser was Jesus Banda. Joe Ault got the save, the 1st for him this season.
In the top of the first, Miami shortstop Dustin Helm had a run-producing at-bat. Facing St. Louis hurler Jesus Banda, Helm drew a walk, driving in 1 run. That made the score 3-0, Miami. For the day, Helm went 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Miami skipper Bill Murtha.
The third-place Boll Weevils have won 4 in a row.
