Firecats Drop Contest, 5-2, to Sonoma
|
The Sonoma Scorpions overcame a good performance by Hialeah second baseman Jake Stone to knock off Hialeah, 5-2, at Firecats Ballpark. Stone went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Alex Perez. He's now 7-2. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits for the Scorpions. Jason Henley was credited with the save for Sonoma, his 1st of the season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Nate Galloway? The Sonoma designated hitter had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Scorpions on top, 2-0. For the game, Galloway had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Galloway called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The Scorpions lead the Western AA Central Division by 3 games.
