Royals Defeated, 5-3
|
Stockton and Cornwall put this game in the books despite some rain.
Stockton shortstop Jose Celis made his presence felt in the 5-3 Ragin Cajuns triumph over the Cornwall Royals. Celis slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Danny Pena got the win, improving to 4-3. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Ryan Robertson closed out the game, earning his 2nd save.
Stockton took a 5-1 lead on Celis's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Brian Gay in the top of the seventh, propelled Stockton to the win.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Celis said in reaction to the win.
At 32-36, the Ragin Cajuns find themselves in 5th place in the Western AA Central Division.
