Vail Beats Cornwall, 3-0
|
Vail pitcher John Hennig did his part in helping his team defeat the Cornwall Royals, 3-0. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Hennig yielded no runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 4-0. Tyler Doss earned save number 16 this season.
Jim Van Donsel had a direct impact on the outcome. Van Donsel contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Vail up, 2-0.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Ivan Cabrera.
Cornwall's current losing streak is now 4 games.
