Firecats Suffer 6-3 Home Defeat

The Augusta Capitols licked the Hialeah Firecats, 6-3. Brent Brogdon deserved a big chunk of the credit. The catcher was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Capitols. Bernie Rios picked up the win in relief. Chris Mueller took the loss for Hialeah. Tim Kondas finished the game for Augusta and earned his 17th save.
Josh Alcorn, who is tied for 10th in the W-AA with a .363 on-base percentage, aided the Augusta cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman was 1-3 with a walk.
"Nice win for us," said Alcorn. "Now we'll go after the next one."
Augusta has 5 straight wins, Hialeah 3 straight losses.
