Boll Weevils Turn Back Hialeah, 8-6
|
The Miami Boll Weevils beat the Hialeah Firecats, 8-6, at Ballpark of Miami. Miami third baseman Tim Kidd, who is tied for 3rd in the W-AA in doubles with 18, collected 3 singles and 1 double with 3 runs batted in. Miami is now 31-37.
The Firecats had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Boll Weevils going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman Alberto Juarez came to the plate. Juarez hit a 3-run home run on a first pitch changeup from Hialeah hurler Danny Lanzetta. It was Juarez's 2nd home run of the year.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Kidd.
