The Vail Tigercats scooped up a win at Firecats Ballpark, dumping the Hialeah Firecats, 7-2. Derek Sigers, who is tied for 2nd in the W-AA with a 0.98 WHIP, was essential to his team's success. Sigers picked up the win for Vail, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. The 4th-place Tigercats lifted their record to 35-31.
Vail used a well-timed hit by Curt Lirette to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Tigercats ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I executed the game plan," said Sigers.
