London Neutralizes St. Louis, 2-0
|
Starting pitcher Travis Gross fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the London Tigers stymie the St. Louis Cavalry, 2-0. Gross, the winner, moves to 3-4. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks. The win boosted London to 41-23.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from catcher Wally Bodin. For the game, Bodin was 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave London a 1-0 lead.
"We did just enough to win," Gross said.
