Bulldogs Roll Past Boll Weevils, 7-2
|
Hamilton took on Miami in front of a lively crowd.
The Hamilton Bulldogs picked up a win at Mariachis Ballpark, dropping the Miami Boll Weevils, 7-2. Jesus Garcia, who leads the W-AA in strikeouts with 76, was the difference-maker. Garcia, now 6-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs.
In the bottom of the fifth, Sam Neeley delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Hamilton catcher hit a run-scoring single, putting the Bulldogs in front, 7-2.
Said losing manager Bill Murtha: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
Hamilton is 5th in the Western AA Central Division with a record of 31-34.
