Thaxton Propels Vail Offense in 10-3 Rout
The Vail Tigercats licked the Augusta Capitols, 10-3. John Thaxton deserved a big chunk of the credit. The right fielder was 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Tigercats. Mike Redmond got the win, improving to 5-4. He held the Capitols to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. The Tigercats move to 33-31 with the win, while the Capitols drop to 40-24.

Vail second baseman Bob Sallee contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 19th hit of the season and put the Tigercats ahead, 5-1.

"We hit the ball on the barrel," said Vail manager Mike Alexander.
